I decided i needed a small mitre plane antique mitre planes fetch big money so plan b i will make one and this is how i did it.

This is the base 1/8" mild steel plate

The sides 1/8 plate dovetails cut by hand

First fitting using an oak 15 degree wedge to fettle the mouth

I have started to fit the English walnut this is a over stuffed plane

The cleaning up begins a little bit of worm in the walnut

Looking good the engraving was done at a local Timpsons shoe repair.

The finished plane in use every day lots of mistakes the base should have been 3/16" or more cutting a tonue and groove in 1/8 plate took some doing the brass bridge the square tenons are too big a single steel pin would have done the job better allowing the brass bridge to rotate.
